Intercultural Storytelling

How do we tell stories? Whose stories do we tell? This intensive workshop focuses not only on alternative narratives but on alternative modes of storytelling, by drawing on both Asian and European training systems and stories. We will re-discover the potential for expression of the whole body, from the sophisticated use of the eyes in Indian traditional theatre to the grounding step of Japanese Noh. We will explore fragmentation of physical action and changes in qualities and tempo-rhythm through corporeal mime. We will experiment with introducing song and polyphony in storytelling as well as bring together these elements in ensemble storytelling.

Age group: 16+
Duration: 2 to 8 sessions (3h).
